Our national certification system is designed to produce competent wilderness self-reliance practitioners. From foundational knowledge to advanced specialization, the NBSC framework speaks to the Canadian wilderness in all seasons.

Seasonal Endorsements

Validate your skills in specific seasonal environments. Endorsements can be added to Levels 2–4.

  • Spring

    Wet-weather shelter, water safety, spring navigation, wildlife awareness, emergency preparedness.

  • Summer

    Heat management, long-distance navigation, canoe & expedition skills, water procurement, extended field exercises.

  • Fall

    Seasonal transition, cold-weather preparation, food systems, gear preparation, wildlife awareness.

  • Winter

    Extreme cold self-reliance, snow shelters, winter firecraft, layering systems, ice safety, emergency scenarios.
